Description
This is a late 17th and early 18th century farmhouse, constructed from rubble stone and covered with stone tile roofs. It is one-and-a-half and two-and-a-half storeys in height. The range to the left has a wall stack at its west end, and two paired dormer gables each containing a recessed two-light mullion window with a cyma-mould and hoodmould. The ground floor has a 12-pane sash window in a plain surround to the left of a 20th-century door, and a similar pair of windows to the right. A projecting gabled porch built of ashlar stone features a Tudor arched entry and a ball finial, bearing the date 1861. To the right is the south end wall of a taller range with a half-hipped roof and a chimney on the west side. This range has 19th-century sash windows on the ground and first floors. The east side wall has cornerstones returned to create a straight joint with the north and south ends, and contains a three-light chamfered mullion window. The north end displays an original two-light attic window and a two-light chamfered mullion window with a hoodmould on the first floor. At the rear of the lower range is a projecting chimney gable attached to a two-storey former hayloft with a half-hipped north gable and 20th-century mullion windows. Inside the right-hand range is a restored Tudor arched fireplace with a mantel, likely dating to the late 17th century. The farmhouse is situated on an unnamed lane running north from The Green.
