Description
4 and 5 Harts Lane are a pair of cottages, now functioning as a house, built in 1725 and the mid 18th century. They are constructed from rubble stone and feature stone tiled roofs. The buildings are two stories high.
Number 4 has a stack at the north end and a coped gable. It includes a 2-light flush cyma mullion window above and a 2-light recessed cyma mullion window with a hoodmould below. The door has a chamfered flush surround, which appears to have been altered, and there is a small oval window to the right.
Number 5 is double fronted and features bead-moulded 2-light windows, with two above that have casements and two below that have sash opening lights, all topped with a hoodmould that steps over the central chamfered flush doorcase. Above the door is a shield inscribed with "G.L. 1725." There is a 20th-century shop attached to the north end, which is not of special interest.
