Description

EASTON GREY MALMESBURY ROAD ST 88 NE (south side) 3/16 Garden Gateway and Gates to the north-west of Easton Grey House GV II

Ornamental Gateway and Gates. Late C18, probably resited in c1880 to give access to formal garden. Limestone to gateway set in low coursed rubble wall with wrought iron gates. Gateway comprising 2 pilasters and 2 Roman Doric columns supporting an entablature of stepped masonry blocks of receding heights. Two reclining horses flanking central stepped feature. Fine ornamental 2-leaf gates of wreathed serpentine design.
