STEEPLE ASHTON CHURCH STREET ST 95 NW (off north side) 7/219 Two monuments in the churchyard between 11 and 13m north of tower 11.9.68 of Church of St Mary the Virgin GV II*

Two chest tombs. Early to mid C18. Limestone. Large 'double' tomb to north has two oval fielded panels with richly-carved scrolled decoration, ogee-moulded flat top, illegible inscription. Tomb to south has two fielded panels, fluted pilasters, moulded cornice to ogee moulded flat top, partly illegible inscription with date 1740.
