Description
The Barn at The Granary is a 16th-century structure, with its walls rebuilt in the 18th century. It features flint and brick bands along the sleeper walls and has a half-hipped tiled roof. This six-bay aisled barn includes two pairs of opposing double doors set within hipped porches. The roof is supported by vertical struts to the collar and pairs of straight braces extending from the aisle posts, which rest on stone pads, to the tie-beam and wall plate. The aisles are enhanced with curved bracing to the collars, and the roof structure includes two tiers of through purlins and straight wind bracing on the lower tier. It is possible that the barn was originally longer than its current six bays.
