Description
The Pepperbox is a folly built in the early 18th century, with its roof rebuilt around 1900. It is likely designed by Giles Eyre of Brickworth House. The structure is made of English bond brick and features a Welsh slate roof, with a hexagonal plan. It stands three storeys tall, with one blocked window on each face. The ground floor has segmental-headed doorways, and the first floor includes windows with three-brick plat bands. The second floor is distinguished by a stepped cornice and blocked windows with timber lintels. The building has a stepped eaves cornice and a hexagonal conical roof topped with a weathervane. The Pepperbox is prominently located on Pepperbox Hill, offering fine views, and is also known as Eyre's Folly.
