Description
The bridge, located about 50 meters southeast of Rectory Farmhouse, is a Grade II listed structure over a tributary of the River Avon. It dates from the 18th century and was widened in the early 19th century. Constructed from limestone in a drystone style, the original 18th-century bridge on the upstream side was a narrow pack-horse bridge featuring four spans with stone piers that support stone slab lintels. In the early 19th century, the bridge was widened on the downstream side by adding four small round arches made with rough stone voussoirs. The bridge has no parapets, and the track leading to it is unmettled. This structure is an interesting example of an 18th-century pack-horse bridge that was adapted in the early 19th century for the passage of carts.
