Description
The road bridge over the River Avon, located partly in Staverton, is a Grade II listed structure. It is possibly of late Medieval origin but has been rebuilt in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The bridge is constructed from dressed limestone and features two recessed pointed arches at the center on the north side, with a triangular cutwater between them. The side arches are segmental, and there is a plain parapet with pitched coping. The south side of the bridge has four 18th-century segmental arches, each with raised keystones. The underside of the two pointed arches on the north side displays flat stone ribs that form a pointed barrel vault, suggesting that these arches may date back to the 15th century.
