Description

Wharf Bridge is a 20th-century structure that is one of four bridges over the canal, all sharing the same design. It features a large stilted arch made of stone, with radiating chamfered voussoirs and a central keystone. The chamfered joints are carried horizontally through the archway. At road level, there is a projecting string and a solid stone parapet with weathered coping. The design is utilitarian for its time and lacks pretension in architectural quality; however, it is well built and showcases an effective, simple treatment of stonework.
