Description

39 and 39A New Park Street are a building with an 18th-century front, built onto an earlier structure likely dating to the 17th or possibly 16th century. The building is two storeys high and constructed of painted Bath stone, set on a projecting plinth. A sill course runs along the first floor, and a moulded eaves cornice finishes the building. The roof is slate, with a low gable. There are four windows on the first floor, recessed and containing sash windows without glazing bars, set within raised stone surrounds with corniced heads. The ground floor windows are recessed, with the outer windows being double-hung sashes without glazing bars, and the inner windows being single-hung sashes without glazing bars, all in stone architrave surrounds. A central recessed entrance has a four-panelled door under a stone Greek Doric porch with two columns, wall pilasters, and an entablature. The rear gable reveals part of the earlier building, showing traces of timber framing and featuring two-light flush casements.
