Description
Nos 37 and 37A on New Park Street are a pair of buildings dating from the early to mid 19th century, situated on a corner site with Couch Lane. They are two storeys high and constructed of colour-washed brick, topped with a slate roof that has hipped gable ends and a shallow eaves cornice.
On the first floor, there are two shallow canted bay windows featuring hipped slate roofs, plain aprons, and sash windows without glazing bars. The ground floor has a mid-19th century shop front with two windows flanking a glazed door that has one flush panel and a rectangular fanlight above. The door for No 37A consists of two flush panels, with the rest being glazed and a deep rectangular fanlight above it. To the right, there is a sash window that has later glazing bars. All these features are framed with Doric pilasters, a frieze, and a moulded cornice that projects forward at the base of the first-floor bays.
Additionally, there is a two-storeyed wing facing Couch Lane, which dates from the 18th century and has two camber-headed casements. Nos 32 to 37 form a group of buildings.
