Description
Ley Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1818 for the Wyndhams of Phillips House in Dinton. It features coursed rubble stone with ashlar dressings and has a hipped Welsh slate roof with brick stacks. The building is designed in an L-shape and is two storeys high with a three-window front. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door with margin panes and a fanlight, set within a late 19th-century gabled glazed porch that has bargeboards. Flanking the door are two 12-pane sash windows.
On the first floor, there is a plat band and three 12-pane sashes. The roof has deep eaves and a shallow pitch. The right side of the building has two 12-pane sashes on both the ground and first floors, with a plat band on the first floor. The left side features three 12-pane sashes on the ground floor and two 12-pane sashes and one 8-pane sash on the first floor. The rear of the farmhouse includes 12-pane sashes and a two-storey kitchen and service range with planked doors and 2-light casements. The service range extends to the north and is attached to a cartshed and stables.
Inside, the farmhouse retains original features such as four-panelled doors, internal shutters, a central staircase with stick balusters, a back staircase with a planked door, and stone floors in the service areas and passages.
