Description
Watersmeet Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid 18th century, constructed from coursed squared rubble stone with stone tiled roofs, coped gables, and end wall stacks. The building has two storeys and features flush quoins, moulded eaves, and 12-pane sash windows set in flush bead moulded surrounds. The main façade has a three-window range, with a pair of sashes on the left and a single sash on the right on each floor, along with cornice strips above the ground floor windows. There is a central first floor sash window above a 20th-century six-panel door, which is framed by a moulded flush doorcase topped with a pediment on brackets. The lower south wing has a two-window range, also with cornice strips over the ground floor windows. Inside, there are two stone fireplaces with moulded lintels featuring quadrant curves, fielded panelled shutters, and an altered closed string staircase. The farmhouse has a cellar located under the north end and was previously known as the Scrope Arms inn.
