Description
Three chest tombs located in the churchyard about 16 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Mary. These tombs date from the late 18th century and early 19th century and are made of limestone and lias. The northern tomb is dedicated to Thomas Dark and features oval fielded panels on the sides and ends, with relief-carved draped urns on the sides, quarter balusters, and a fluted frieze on the moulded flat top. The two lower tombs to the south include one for Isaac Dark, who died in 1818, and a middle tomb for Thomas Dark, who died in 1797. These two tombs have plain panels with painted decoration and blue lias flat tops.
