Description
Brook Cottages comprise a row of three cottages, now used as two dwellings, dating from the mid-18th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed rubble stone and have a stone slate roof with a hip to the right-hand side and a half-hip to the left. Brick stacks are present. The front elevation has seven windows. Number 4 has a planked door set within a trellised porch on the left, and a two-light mullioned casement to the right. To the right of the straight joint, there is a two-light mullioned casement with a hoodmould and a two-light casement within a blocked doorway. The first floor of number 4 features four two-light recessed hollow or cyma-mullioned casements. The higher portion to the right, encompassing number 6, has a central planked door with a hoodmould. To the left of this door is a blocked doorway with an inserted two-light window and a four-pane sash window to the right. The first floor of this section has two two-light mullioned casements, with a central blocked window. The left return has a cyma-mullioned casement on the ground floor. The rear of the cottages features a 20th-century lean-to extension with a conservatory on the left, a planked door, 20th-century casement windows, and four-pane sash windows in the higher range to the left.
