Description

This is a house and shops, largely rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries, though containing a datestone indicating its origins in 1649. The building is constructed of rubble stone, with the section at No 9 having a rendered finish. It features a 19th-century slate roof, coped gables and a south-end stack.

The front elevation is a tall, three-storey, three-window range. The second floor has recessed, ovolo-moulded mullion windows. The first floor has sash windows within bead-moulded surrounds and hoodmoulds; the windows have 12 panes to the left, 16 panes in the centre, and 20th-century plate glass to the right. At ground level, there is a shop window in a bead-moulded surround with a hoodmould, a 20th-century stone doorcase to the left, and an original central six-panel door within a stone doorcase with a cornice. A larger 20th-century shop is located to the right.

Behind the main building are two gabled wings, with the wing behind No. 9 being taller.
