Description

This is a house, likely dating from the 17th century, and significantly altered in the later 19th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble stone with a stone-tiled roof, coped gables, and a west end stack. The building is two storeys high with an attic, featuring three dormers on the south side. Flush quoins are also present. The east-facing wall, which fronts onto the High Street, features an apex oval light. The attic has a two-light recessed chamfered mullion window with a hood moulding. The first floor has a five-pane sash window set within a flush ashlar surround, and the ground floor has a 19th-century shop window with side pilasters and a fascia.

The Pickwick Road frontage has a four-window arrangement. The first floor features four five-pane sash windows in flush ashlar surrounds, with a smaller, similar sash window inserted between the right-hand pair. The ground floor includes a rubble stone plinth, a 19th-century shop window and door with a painted ashlar surround for number 1, a 20th-century window within a 19th-century ashlar surround, and a 19th-century shopfront for number 3.
