Description
Nos. 20 and 21 Bishopstrow are two cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from painted coursed limestone rubble with a tiled roof and brick stacks. The cottages are two stories tall and have a total of four windows, all featuring casements.
No. 20 includes a 2-light casement in a blocked doorway, a 3-light cast iron casement to the left, a segmental-arched cart entry, and a 2-light casement to the right. The entrance to No. 20 is now accessed from the cart entry. No. 21 has a 20th-century door, a 2-light casement to the left, and a 3-light casement to the right. The first floor of both cottages features four 2-light casements, all made of cast iron and with hoodmoulds above the ground floor openings. The rear of the property has a 20th-century lean-to extension.
The interior has not been inspected, but the cottages are considered a good example of relatively well-preserved estate cottages in the village center.
