Description

Eastleigh Court is a detached house built around 1880, featuring Flemish and English bond brickwork, a tiled roof, and grouped octagonal brick stacks. The building is designed in a 17th-century style and has an L-plan layout. It is two storeys high with a five-windowed front that includes mullioned windows.

To the left of the centre is a projecting porch with Tudor-arched double doors that have ornamental hinges, flanked by side lights. On either side of the porch are three-light stone mullioned and transomed windows on both the ground and first floors. Above the door, there is a five-light oriel window supported by carved stone brackets. The attic gables feature two-light ovolo-mullioned windows with saddleback coped verges.

The right side of the house has two three-light mullioned windows on both the ground and first floors. The left return showcases a half-octagonal two-storey bay with cross windows on the right, additional cross windows in the centre, and a projecting range on the left that includes cross windows and a two-light mullioned window in the attic gable. The right return has a four-light mullioned and transomed window with a king mullion and a cross window on the first floor, along with a two-light mullioned window in the attic.

At the rear, there are wooden cross windows set in chamfered brick surrounds, a wooden square bay in the centre, and lead rainwater heads and downpipes. The interior was not accessible during the survey in April 1985. This house remains largely unaltered and retains good architectural detail. It is likely a rebuild of a house that was originally constructed on the same site in the 1830s by the Astley family.
