Description

Lockeridge House is a Grade II* listed house dating from around 1740. It features diaper brickwork and a slated roof, standing two storeys high with attics and cellars. The north front has five bays, with a central entrance raised over five rounded steps. The entrance has a moulded doorcase topped with a segmental pediment on consoles, although the original door has been replaced with a sash window. The twelve-paned sash windows are adorned with finely gauged brick lintels, and the lower arris is shaped. A moulded plat band and cornice are present, and the brick parapet has been rebuilt. The hipped gambrel roof includes three flat-roofed dormers with 15-paned single-hung windows.

The east front now features the main entrance, which consists of a six-panelled door set within an open 19th-century porch that has pilasters and a flat roof. A moulded stone cornice is also present. Attic windows are located in the lower section of the gable, flanked by tall brick stacks. A three-storey 18th-century block has been added to the west front, featuring 24-pane sashes and a modillion cornice. There is also a late 19th to early 20th-century two-bay brick block at the rear, which connects to an 18th-century staff cottage that has a 19th-century rear wing.

Inside, the house has a double pile plan with a rear stair hall. Four main reception rooms feature moulded cornices, with three of them fully but simply panelled. The dining room, located to the right of the original entrance, includes a fireplace with Ionic semi-columns and marble slips, while the rear parlour has a bolection moulded fireplace. The stair has not been seen.
