Description
The buildings at 36 and 38 Bedwin Street are a two-storey and attic structure, likely dating to the 16th and 17th centuries. The exterior is colourwashed brick, with an upper portion of timber framing also colourwashed and infilled with brick. A central gable, featuring a 19th-century cut bargeboard, rises from the roof, which has a steep pitch and is covered in old tile. A corner bay where St Edmund's Church Street meets Bedwin Street has been demolished. The attic gable includes a double two-light casement window with a small 16th-century angle bracket above. The first floor has two three-light 19th-century casement windows. Two early 19th-century entrances are centrally placed, each with a four-panel flush door set within an architrave frame, and small, flat, moulded hoods. The western gable end, now exposed following the demolition of the corner bay, displays timber framing.
