Description

No. 5 Market Hill is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The gable was rebuilt around 1963. The building is rendered and features a coursed rubble limestone gable, topped with a slate roof. It has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a two-window range. The gable is coped, and the shop front includes a left-hand doorway with a panelled door and a bracketed canopy. There are paired 2/2-pane horned sash windows on the ground floor, along with a matching window on the first floor and a gabled casement dormer. At the rear, there is a rubble range with an oak lintel over a casement window. Inside, the property features a 19th-century left-hand stair with stick balusters.
