Description

The Brookes Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, about 2 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St. Margaret of Antioch. It dates from the late 17th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features plain sides with inscriptions and a heavy chamfered flat top. It commemorates Elles Brookes, who died in 1694. At the time of the survey in March 1985, the monument was considerably sunk.
