Description
No 11 on West Street is a house and shop that was originally three cottages, dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a stone slate roof with rear stacks. The building has one and a half storeys and five dormer gables, each with a three-light chamfered recessed mullion window and a hoodmould. The last two bays are canted back to follow the line of the street.
On the ground floor, the left side has a symmetrical arrangement in the first two bays, featuring two early 18th century thick glazing bar sashes in raised moulded surrounds, flanked by doors in chamfered surrounds. The third bay contains an original three-light mullion window with a hoodmould, similar to the dormers. The canted section on the right has an original three-light window in the left bay, a central door, and a canted timber small-paned shop window to the right. The building also displays a Sun Fire plaque numbered 100678.
Inside, there is an early 18th century room on the ground floor left with fielded paneling, while the shop to the right features a chamfered beam.
