Description
Nos 6 and 7 on West Street are a pair of houses built in the late 18th century, incorporating an earlier structure. They are constructed from coursed rubble stone with ashlar dressings and feature white lime joints. The houses have a stone slate roof with stacks at the south end and rear wall.
The buildings are two storeys high with an attic and present a formal six-window range. They have flush quoins, a raised moulded plinth, a band, and an eaves band. The windows are cyma-moulded, with two-light flush mullions; there are six windows on the first floor and four on the ground floor. Each house has a central door framed by chamfered surrounds and topped with hoods supported by brackets.
There are two hipped dormers, and the initials "I & E 1773" are scratched on No 6. At the rear, there is a lean-to and a plastered rear gable on No 7.
