Description

Pockeredge Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed of rubble stone with a stone-tiled roof, featuring coped gables with finials and a ridge stack. The building is two storeys and has an attic. It has recessed windows with ovolo-mouldings. On the left-hand side are a four-light ground floor window and a three-light first floor window, with a hoodmould above the first floor window. A dripcourse runs over the ground floor, continues around the gable of the projecting two-storey porch, and steps over the moulded doorway, which has a two-light window above it. To the right of the porch is a first-floor two-light window, with a hipped-eaves dormer above. A two-storey projection with canted sides follows, containing a single light window at half level and, to the right, 20th-century French windows. A first-floor, three-light window is located at the attic’s east end, along with dove openings. The rear of the property has a 20th-century north-west wing with two two-light and one three-light first-floor windows, all with hoodmoulds and a dripcourse over the ground floor, along with a three-light window to the right and a 20th-century window to the centre. Attached to the east end are outbuildings in two sections. The first section has a projecting gable to the south and a stack to the east. The longer range beyond features an upper loft floor, external steps to the east end, a four-bay roof with 19th-century trusses.
