Description
This is a detached cottage located in Norton Bavent village, dating to the 17th century with substantial rebuilding in the mid-19th century. The walls are built with a mix of brick bond patterns - Flemish bond, English bond, and English garden wall bond - and the roof is thatched and hipped. The cottage is arranged in an L-shape, with a rear outshut to the north. It originally had two-storey, two-windowed casement windows. The older 17th-century wing was rebuilt in the 19th century and features 2-light and 3-light casement windows, along with a planked door set within a thatched porch on the right side. The first floor has two 2-light casement windows. At the rear of the cottage, an outshut from the 17th century contains a partly blocked 3-light mullioned casement window and a 20th-century casement. An eastern wing has a glazed door and 3-light and 2-light casement windows. The interior was inaccessible when surveyed in July 1985.
