Description

BURBAGE SAVERNAKE ROAD SU 26 NW (west side) 1/58 Farm buildings, Warren Farm GV II

Planned farm buildings, c1830-40. Brick with slate and tiled roofs. 'E' plan, with parallel dryer/corn store on north side and cattle stalling around straw yard to its rear, and cowshed to south of last. Main stock yard lies behind house (q.v.) comprising on south side, a long milking parlour, to west, a four bay cart shed with loft over, attached to large straw barn. Centre limb contains calf shed and stabling, and further calf penning in northern limb, shorter than the south and centre limbs, and forming a narrower yard. South yard enclosed by brick wall on east, with two single storey buildings attached by gables and extending towards house, and containing stockmans room and store, and building now the domestic fuel store. On north side, detached large 2-storey corn store, now containing dryer, with 55mm walls and segmental headed windows with key blocks, and wide semicircular arched openings at ends. Cowhouse lying to north-west has vented roof, ventilator over gable door, flanked by glazed oculi. Straw yard north of last has open fronted stalling, with stables in enclosed south end of east limb.
