Description

Nos 15 and 16 are a pair of estate cottages built for the Ailesbury Estate around 1860 to 1870. They are constructed of red brick with buff brick patterning and feature a slate roof. Each house is two stories and has an L-shaped plan, attached back-to-back, with the entrance located in the re-entrant angle, sheltered by an open timber arched porch. The cottages have timber casement windows and buff brick quoins, with patterning that imitates timber framing. They also feature steep gabled dormers with carved bargeboards. The roof is hipped and includes a tall bonded brick stack, while the rear stack is corbelled, and the flues have been rebuilt. There are 20th-century outbuildings present, along with the original wash-house and closets located in the garden.
