Description

Appletree Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th to 17th century, with some 19th-century alterations. It features a timber frame with rendered brick infill and a thatched roof. The building is single storey with an attic, originally consisting of two bays that were likely extended to three bays in the 17th century. There is a three-bay brick rear wing added in the 19th century. The central room has an axial stack, and there is a lean-to on the right side. The entrance has a timber boarded door located in the centre bay, and the cottage has timber casement windows. The thatched roof includes two dormers at the front and three at the rear, with the thatch sweeping down over the lean-to. There are brick stacks, and the interior features timber framed partitions.
