Description
Home Farmhouse is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a country house. It dates from the mid-17th century and features early 20th-century alterations and additions. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with stone dressings around the windows, topped with gabled stone slate roofs. It has end stone stacks in pairs, which have moulded caps and bases. The farmhouse has a T-shaped plan, with the original 17th-century block and a later addition parallel to the road, along with a rear 20th-century service range.
The east front of the farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic and has three windows. To the left, there is a two-storey, one-window addition that creates an elevation with three unequal gables. The windows are 20th-century, featuring two, three, and four-light ovolo-moulded mullions with hoodmoulds and small pane casements, except for the attic windows and blocked openings above in the main range, which are original. The doorway is centrally located on the main range and has a 20th-century bolection-moulded architrave with a part-glazed 20th-century door. There is also another 20th-century door on the left addition.
Inside, there is a Tudor-arched fireplace in the ground floor room to the right, several stop-chamfered beams, and a circular newel staircase leading to the spine passage on the first floor. The interior also includes several 17th-century door frames and plank doors, as well as the original butt-purlin and collar beam roof structure.
