Description

Number 9 on The Butts is a cottage that dates from the 17th to 18th century. It was originally two cottages but has been converted into one. The building is constructed of whitewashed stone rubble and features a thatched roof. It is one storey high with an attic, and each original cottage had two bays that included a living room and a narrow service space. The front has a 20th-century glazed door and windows that are timber casements with six and twelve panes. The thatch extends over the attic windows, which have a single vertical glazing bar in each light. There is a chimney stack on the left side and another stack situated between the two original cottages.
