Description

Nos 3 and 4, The Butts, are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th to 18th centuries. They are constructed from whitewashed chalkstone with brick dressings and feature a thatched roof. Each cottage has two bays, is one storey high with an attic, and has a rear wing on the left side. No 3 has a 20th-century extension at the front. Originally, these cottages were designed as lobby entry houses. The cottages have 20th-century boarded doors and timber paned casement windows, all set under segmental heads. The thatched roof extends over the rear wing and is drawn down over the gable. No 4 has a single flue gable stack, while No 3 has a central stack.
