Description

This is a detached cottage dating from the mid-17th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone with rubble stone, and has a thatched roof with gable-end stacks of stone and brick. The building presents a gable end to the road. It is a single-story structure with an attic, and originally had two windows visible from the front. A central planked door is protected by a thatched canopy. Either side of the door are three-light recessed hollow-chamfered mullioned windows with hoodmoulds. The first floor has two two-light casements set within an eyebrow dormer. The roof has coped verges. The left return shows a 20th-century fixed window within a blocked doorway with a hoodmould, a two-light casement to the attic, and a single recessed hollow-chamfered light to the attic. The right return has a 19th-century extension with a blocked doorway and a two-light casement, and a hipped tiled roof. A 20th-century lean-to extension has been added to the rear.

Inside, the cottage features deep chamfered beams, planked doors with strap hinges, two open fireplaces with chamfered lintels on chamfered stone jambs, and flagstone floors.
