Description

Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a detached house. It dates from the mid-17th century and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from limestone, with rubblestone and dressed stone, and features a concrete tiled roof that was originally thatched, along with stone stacks.

The farmhouse is two stories high and has four windows across its front. The entrance features a planked door set in a chamfered wooden case, with an early 20th-century glazed and gabled porch located to the left of center. To the left of the door is a 19th-century three-light casement window, and to the right are a three-light casement window, a 20th-century fixed window, and a two-light casement window inserted into a blocked doorway. On the first floor, there are three three-light leaded casements and one two-light casement.

Attached to the right side of the farmhouse is a two-story extension from the 19th century, which was further extended in the 1930s. This extension features a planked door and three-light casement windows. The left side of the building is windowless and has a raking buttress. At the rear, there is a 20th-century flat-roofed extension on the ground floor, while the first floor has four two-light leaded casements.

Inside, the farmhouse has deeply chamfered beams with stepped or ogee stops, and there are two open fireplaces. The southern fireplace has a chamfered lintel with rounded corners, while the other has a lintel with stepped stops. The house likely consists of two 17th-century builds: an early to mid-17th-century cottage on the south, which was extended to the north in the late 17th century, with further additions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It was formerly part of the Wyndham estate, associated with Phillips House in Dinton.
