Description
Spencer's Farmhouse is a house from the 17th century, possibly with medieval origins. It is built of rubble stone and has a thatched roof, featuring a ridge stack and a west end stack. The house has one and a half storeys and three coped dormer gables, each with 2-light mullion windows that have recessed frames and timber mullions.
On the ground floor, from left to right, there is a pair of casement windows, a 2-light flush cyma-moulded window with small-paned lights, a small pointed light that may be medieval, and a door set in a chamfered flush surround with a hood on brackets. This is followed by another 2-light flush cyma-moulded window with small-paned lights and a 19th-century 4-pane casement window. The rear of the house has two dormer gables with 2-light windows, a central casement dormer, and a ground floor 2-light recessed hollow moulded mullion window with a hoodmould, along with a small rectangular opening that may be medieval and a door.
There is an east end extension that is tiled with Bridgwater tiles. Inside, the farmhouse features a Tudor arched stone fireplace that backs onto a cross passage, as well as chamfered and stopped beams.
