Description

The Barton comprises a pair of cottages dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, built of rubble stone with stone-tiled roofs. The roofs have coped gables, with end wall stacks and a ridge stack. The original range has two dormer gables, each featuring a two-light recessed window with ovolo moulding and a hoodmould. A similar window is located on the ground floor to the right, while a 20th-century two-light window replaces a former door to the left. A further door and two-light window with a hoodmould, flush frame, and moulded mullion are also present. A south end extension features a ground floor front door and a gable with an upper two-light ovolo-moulded mullion window with a hoodmould; a 20th-century window sits below. The south gable has a cope. At the rear of the original range, a dormer gable is present on the left, above a three-light window and a two-light window, both recessed with ovolo moulding and hoodmoulds. To the right is a gabled rear wing with a reset two-light window with ovolo moulding and a hoodmould.
