Description

Ashley Grove Lower House is a house, likely dating from the 1820s or 1830s, constructed of ashlar with a slate roof, coped gables, and end wall stacks. It is two storeys and an attic, originally with a three-window front. Two 20th-century dormers have been added to the roof. The building features a raised band, a first-floor sill course, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. The windows are twelve-pane sashes.

Extensions have been added to each side of the original house. A late 19th or early 20th-century stone extension is situated to the left, incorporating a twelve-pane sash window over a door with sidelights, all within a moulded pedimented frame, and further sash windows on either side. To the right is an early 20th-century extension, rendered in roughcast, with a large glazed gabled porch beneath a twelve-pane sash window, and a hipped roof. A taller similar range is positioned behind this, also with a hipped roof, and its upper storey is slightly set back.
