Description

NEW STREET 1. 1594 (South Side) Nos 6l and 63 SU 1429 NW 3/106 28.2.52. II GV 2. C18 late, 2 storeys, brick-headers only. Flat wooden frieze and flat eaves with brackets in pairs at approximately 2 ft 3 ins centres. Slate roof. 2 4-pane windows on first floor flanking central panel. 2 similar windows and central door on ground floor. 6-panelled door with rectangulav fanlight over arched and radiating glazing with fluted fan ornament in spandrels and reeded band between door and fanlight carried round panelled reveals. Moulded architrave. Outer architrave - wide reeded band with blocks at corners and flat moulded cornice hood. Secondary door to RH No 63 - 6-panelled door with rectangular fanlight, panelled reveals and moulded architrave. Plain strip pilasters, moulded caps and moulded cornice hood. Both doors have good contemporary brass knockers.

Nos 21 to 49 (odd), the School of Arts and Crafts, Nos 61, 63 and Nos 67 to 75 (odd) form a group.
