Description

West Hill Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse constructed from limestone ashlar with a concrete tiled roof, which was originally a hipped roof made of Welsh slate. It has ashlar stacks with moulded cappings and features an 'L'-shaped plan. The building is two stories high and has three windows on the front, which are fitted with sash windows.

The central entrance consists of a 4-panelled half-glazed door set within a classical porch that has semi-circular arched openings with keystones. On either side of the door are 12-pane sash windows with eared architraves and moulded sills. The facade includes a plat band and corner pilasters, while the first floor features three 12-pane sash windows in plain architraves with moulded sills.

The right side of the building has one sash window on the ground floor and three on the first floor. The left side has a square bay with sash windows, four additional sash windows, and a planked door to the left, with five sash windows on the first floor. The rear of the farmhouse has 2-light casements.

Inside, the farmhouse contains 4-panelled doors in moulded architraves, a staircase with two stick balusters per tread, a wreathed and moulded handrail, and a plain marble fireplace in the room to the right. The ceilings are adorned with plaster cornices, and there are window shutters throughout. This farmhouse was built for the Heytesbury Estate.
