Description
Sheldon Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the later 18th century. It is constructed from rubble stone and features a slate roof with end wall stacks on the main house and a south extension. The building is two storeys high with an attic. The front range is double fronted, displaying two slightly chamfered, moulded flush three-light windows on each floor, along with a central cyma-moulded flush doorcase that contains a six-panel door. There is an ashlar Tudor-style gabled porch, which is dated 1860 and bears the Methuen arms. The house has been extended to the south, where the south range includes a later projecting wing that runs east and is two storeys tall, although it is not of special interest. At the north end, there is an additional two-storey section with a single window range and a timber casement on the first floor. The front doorcase has a scratched date of 1785.
