Description
Wellclose Farmhouse, originally known as Lanhill Cottage, is a house dating primarily from the late 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with stone-tiled roofs and end wall stacks. The two-storey main block features a hipped roof with two dormers and a double-fronted west facade. This facade has flush cyma-moulded mullion windows, with two three-light windows on each floor, separated by a string course which is interrupted above the gabled stone porch, a feature added in the 20th century. A chamfered flush doorcase is located within the front facade. A one-and-a-half-storey north end addition is present, incorporating a north end stack and a hipped eaves dormer, along with a 20th-century window and door. A single-storey addition sits on the south end, and a two-storey rear wing, also of the 20th century, extends from the rear, with a hipped stone-tile roof. A single two-light window is visible on the first floor of the original rear wall.
