Description

The gateway in the wall to Stonar School, located opposite Rookery Nursery, is likely from the late 18th century. It features a segmental-headed planked and studded 19th-century door with ornamental hinges. This door is set within an unusual vermiculated surround that includes icicle-effect limestone and a dropped mask keystone with similar decorative elements. Above the doorway is a raised pediment with flat coping, all integrated into a rubble stone wall.
