Description
This building is a barn located to the south-west of Norton Manor. It likely dates from the 17th century, with a roof added in the late 18th century and changes to the windows and layout made in the early 20th century. The barn is constructed from coursed rubble and features wooden lintels, plank doors, and gates, topped with a steeply pitched gabled stone slate roof. There is a brick stack at the north end. The barn is a tall structure positioned at right angles to the road, with a blank west face and an east face that includes two cart entrances, one doorway, and several casement windows. There is also a loft entrance on the south facade. Inside, the barn has a butt-purlin, collar, and tie-beam roof structure. It plays an important visual role in the streetscape between Bucklands Farmhouse and Norton Manor.
