Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse with an early 17th century core, located on Norton Sherston Road. The south front has been altered, and an east wing was added in the 1820s, which is marked by a datestone on the north wall. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, has a rendered south front, and features stone slate roofs with ashlar stacks. It has a T-shaped plan, with a tower-like section at the south-west corner, a former 17th century service range to the north, and the 1820s block with a double span roof to the east.

The south front, which covers the south wall of the original 17th century section and extends along the 1820s block, is two storeys high and has three windows. The ground floor features Venetian windows, while the upper floor has 12-pane sash windows. The central doorway is adorned with Tuscan columns, an open pediment, a semi-circular fanlight, and a six-panel door. There is a coved cornice and a blocking course parapet that develops into a central pediment. The north end wall of the 17th century block has two three-light hollow-mould mullions and one single light in the attic. The former service range has some double Roman tiling on the north-west roof and 19th century casement windows on the east front.

Inside, there is a huge inglenook fireplace in the left-hand room on the ground floor of the 17th century block. The interior also features an 1820s staircase, doorcases, and a 17th century wooden screen at the head of the winder staircase in the attic.
