Description
Buckland House is a farmhouse located on the north side of Sherston Road in Norton. It dates from the late 17th century and has later additions and 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with stone dressings, featuring some wooden lintels and a stone slate roof that has a paired stone stack at the east end with a moulded cap and base.
The farmhouse is two stories high with an attic and has a two-window south front. The right-hand section, which is from the 17th century, includes three-light ovolo mullions on both the ground and first floors, and a two-light ovolo window in the attic under the gable at the eaves line. To the left, there are two 16-pane timber sash windows. The central doorway is sheltered by a stone slate gabled porch supported by wooden posts, and it features a six-panel door with the top two panels glazed. The west end wall has 16-pane sash windows, while the rear range has 20th-century casement windows.
