Description
Nos 67, 67A, and 67B on Castle Street have origins dating back to the 15th century. They were rebuilt in the 16th or 17th century, with an early 18th-century front added later. The building is two storeys high and constructed of colourwashed brick, featuring a flat eaves cornice and an old tile gable end roof, which previously had two dormers. The first floor has five windows that are flush framed sashes with heavy glazing bars. On the ground floor, a passageway on the left leads to Ivy Place, while the rest of the ground floor is occupied by an altered late 19th-century shop front with a fascia and flanking pilasters. At the rear, there are two timber-framed wings with brick infilling and irregular window arrangements. The north-west wing has a roof supported by collar and tie beams, curved braces, and clasped purlins. Exposed timber framing is visible in the south wall of the passage. Nos 63 to 67B form a group.
