Description

No. 49 Castle Street is a building dating from around 1755, as indicated by the date on the keystone of the arch at the rear of the passage. It is three storeys high and constructed of colour-washed brick. The building features a moulded eaves cornice and a hipped old tile roof. On the upper floor, there are three sash windows with intact glazing bars, set in moulded flush frames. The ground floor has a mid-19th century pilastered frame shop front on the left side and a yard entrance on the right. Nos. 41 to 49 Castle Street form a group.
