Description
Ivy Place is a 17th-century building located on Castle Street, consisting of three consecutive houses numbered 1 to 3. The structure has been altered over time and may have originally been a single house. It stands two storeys high with attics. Number 2 features a gable at the front with new tile hanging on the upper part, while number 3 has a second floor dating from around 1800 with renewed tile hanging. The fronts of the houses are mostly roughcast, and number 1 has two flat-roofed dormers. The roofs are partly old tiled and hipped at number 3. Each house has one window; number 1 has flush framed sashes with intact glazing bars, number 2 has a similar sash on the ground floor and iron framed casements on the first floor and attic, and number 3 has two-light casements. The doors are panelled and feature pedimented hoods. Numbers 2 and 3 have gables on the rear north fronts and share a tall ledged brick stack between them. Inside, there are some 18th-century corner fireplaces and reset 17th-century panels in the dado. Ivy Place, along with numbers 1 to 11, forms a group.
