Description

These are two semi-detached cottages, dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The cottages are timber-framed, with some sections rebuilt using English garden wall brick. They have a Welsh slate roof with a coped verge on the left-hand side and a hip on the right; brick stacks are also present. The cottages are two storeys high and have a two-window arrangement. Number 2 Cornhay Cottage has a 6-panelled door within a moulded architrave, topped by a slate canopy situated to the left of the centre. There are 20th-century bow windows on either side of the door. The first floor features a 3-light casement window within a timber-framed bay, and a tension brace is visible. The brick bay of Shepherds Cottage to the right has a 2-light casement window. The rear return side of the property has single-storey extensions and a 19th-century trellised porch. At the time of survey in May 1986, the interior was inaccessible, but it was reported to retain timber-framed partitions and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
